The birth of your child can be a very exciting moment, and during most deliveries everything goes as per plan for both, the mother and the baby. However, there are instances when the baby and/or the mother might encounter some stress, making it difficult for the baby to come out of the birth canal. When this happens, it may be necessary to use forceps or cups and sometimes, perform an emergency caesarean section.

Common Symptoms That Require Osteopathy

  • Irritability and difficulty settling
  • Excessive crying
  • Difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep
  • Feeding difficulties (e.g., issues with attachment and sucking)
  • Digestive issues (e.g., colic, wind, or reflux)
  • Asymmetry in movement—difficulty turning their head in one direction
  • Stiff neck due to torticollis or congenital torticollis
  • Clicking or asymmetrical limb joint positions
  • Flat head or persistent misshapen head

The OsteoLife Approach

We use gentle hands-on manipulation techniques, for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems, which help decrease muscle tension and improve your baby’s range of motion, which ultimately release any restriction, and help your baby restore his/her natural state of balance, alignment and body functionality.

Your Baby First Visit at OsteoLife

  • Ensure you bring your baby’s Blue Book with you
  • Try to feed your baby before coming for a consultation
  • Bring along your baby’s favorite toys and/or dummy

 During the Osteopathic Treatment

  • A complete history of the pregnancy and birth is taken
  • This is followed by any relevant physical and osteopathic examination
  • Any finding is discussed before commencing treatment
  • Gentle osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) are used to release any restrictions, to help your baby restore his/her natural state of balance, alignment and body functionality
  • Your baby may express his/her feelings during the osteopathic treatment (e.g., crying, smiling, relaxing)

Osteopathy Effects in Babies
